ABOUT THE OWNERS
Prior to meeting each other, Jason and Kelli studied abroad in Italy, sparking their appreciation and love for Neapolitan pizza and the desire to express themselves through food. Now, Jason and Kelli Kolich, husband and wife duo are proud to share their passion for Neapolitan pizza and Italian culture with Kansas City.
In early 2014, Jason made his passion for pizza official. He began developing the concept of 1889 Pizza Napoletana and trained under Tony Gemignani, world-renowned pizza maker and restaurateur in San Francisco. During this training, Jason became certified Pizzaiolo, or pizza maker. Tony has been featured in Forbes’ for "best pizza in America," among numerous other accolades.
Kelli has several years of experience in public relations, blogger relations and corporate marketing of consumer brands and national restaurant chains from her past marketing and communications engagements. Her love of food and ambiance permeate the restaurant, bringing a little bit of Italy to the heart of Kansas City.
